Garage

Overview

Vehicles of all kinds can be parked in the virtual garage. You do not have to own all vehicles, it can make sense to have a mobile home or a truck with a trailer in your own garage. This may sound a bit confusing at first, but it makes sense once you understand why the virtual garage exists. It is very important that the garage is always connected to the routing profiles. Without virtual vehicles, there are no meaningful routing profiles and without vehicles one cannot define meaningful routing profiles.

Vehicles

In the garage you can virtually park vehicles and, what is important, indicate their dimensions. Since version 5, two different routing systems have been integrated into Track of the day .

  • Default routing
  • Advanced Routing

The extended routing takes the vehicle dimensions into account . If you drive a particularly large mobile home, you can largely ensure that you do not get stuck in front of a bridge that is too low or too narrow or a narrow tunnel by specifying the height, width and other parameters. To be on the safe side, you can define your vehicle as slightly larger than it actually is, to be on the safe side!

A standard profile can be selected from the list of available routing profiles so that the appropriate routing profile is automatically preset when the vehicle is changed .

Avoid inner cities

As a motorcyclist you will initially think that you don’t need the extended routing and you might be tempted to delete all mobile homes and trucks together with the associated routing profiles, which is a mistake! It’s easy to explain why it’s a bug. Not every motorcyclist wants to rush from one bend to the next all day long, often one wishes for leisurely cruising on well-developed roads. There is also often a desire to avoid inner cities and, if possible, to take the well-developed bypass.

If you define a very large truck in the list of your vehicles and perhaps also add a dangerous goods option, the extended routing will avoid small inner cities if possible. Instead of being stuck in a traffic jam in a small inner city, you can drive around the outside in a relaxed manner. So there are all sorts of tricks that can be used to adapt the routing to individual preferences.

Render videos

Anyone who has recorded all the tracks during a tour and later wants to create a video with a travel report at home can import all the tracks into Track of the day . By the way, this is also the reason for the name of this software! You can assign many photos of the tour to the vehicle with which you drove your tour via the garage. If a track is selected and you start the video renderer with F5 , you can activate the virtual cockpit . On the left side of the cockpit you can now run the photos that you have assigned to your vehicle.

The right side of the cockpit can be filled with images from Google Streetview , which can be easily created with Track of the day .

All images defined on the vehicle are distributed evenly over the distance of the track when the video is created. For example, if 10 photos are assigned to a motorcycle, the next photo will be switched to every 30 kilometers on a tour of 300 kilometers. The photos of the POIs are displayed as soon as the respective POI is reached during rendering.
